Who are Wolverhampton Lions Club
Wolverhampton Lions Club was formed in 1973
We have a active membership of people whose aim is to enjoy themselves whilst helping their local community and helping those less fortunate than their-selves
WHO ARE THE LIONS
Lions are local people who give some of their time to put something back into their local community, whether it is taking part in local community events or helping to raise funds on our various charity events, Wolverhampton Lions Club strive to help those in need, wherever need exists.
WHAT DO WOLVERHAMPTON LIONS DO
Since our formation in 1973
our scope has been wide and our aims practical.
Our activities have included
- Raising funds to help various Local Groups & Organisations
- Provide equipment for our Local Hospices & Medical Centres
- Support Youth Projects and Exchange Schemes
- Support the Special Olympics
- Promoting & assisting in World Sight Day & Lions Sight First Programmes, this includes raising awareness of the need for regular eye tests, the dangers & Problems of the leading causes of preventable blindness in the UK - AMD, Glaucoma & Diabetic Retinopathy.
- We collect unwanted eye glasses and send them to developing Countries to enable children to learn at school, adults to carry out work, for people to have the gift of sight and to see again
- Recognising Local peoples individual community work with our annual Citizen of the Year Award
- Promoting the Lions Message in a Bottle scheme, the scheme ensures that vital information is available to advise the emergency services of relevant illnesses, allergies & medication
WOLVERHAMPTON LIONS PUT THE FUN INTO FUNDRAISING
Lions is not just all work
we also have a good social side as well
We hold social get-together's that members and families can join in
We enjoy ourselves and encourage members to suggest new social events, but most of all We Have Fun
